The Wurster process has been used to coat particles, spheres, granules and tablets. Systems have been designed for use with a variety of coating formulations including aqueous, organic solvents, hot saturated solutions, and hot melts.
Advantages & Limitations
In this system the core material (liquid or solid) is mixed together with the carrier or wall, forming a homogenous mixture. The carrier then hardens forming a homogenous mixture of the core and the carrier--a matrix. This simple system may have certain advantages in some applications.
